Once the driveway or patio etc has been installed your properties kerb appeal and value will increase, if you are looking to sell you can bet prospective buyers will prefer a home that has a modern driveway to one that does not.
Below is a quick breakdown of the higher end type and style of driveways.
A long standing favorite with many homeowners, block paved driveways are a little more expensive than other types of driveways due to needing a sub base and blocks, you cannot put block paving on an already existing hard standing such as tarmac.
You will need to have the area excavated, then a hardcore base is put down, once this has been compacted into place a compacted sand layer is then put down, only after this can the blocks be laid, this is the reason it is more expensive.
Block paved driveways have many styles and look fantastic when installed properly, they are Suds (sustainable urban drainage systems) compliant which means surface water will drain away. We use and number of block paving suppliers such as Marshalls block paving and Tobermore block pavingFor more information or to book a FREE no obligation quotation please fill in the contact form on the righthand side of this page.
Another great type surface used mainly for patios but we are mentioning here because of its versatiltiy
Indian sandstone as it name suggests is form India, you can find lower quailty versions but if you want the best make sure it is from India, you pay a little more but you get what you pay for.
There are two types of resin which can be laid for resin driveways or patios, resin bonded and resin bound, both are completely different in installation and costs.
This is by far the cheaper of the two styles, it is laid on top of a hard standing area such as concrete or tarmac base, resin is poured on to the hard surface and spread out to cover the area and then the gravel aggregate is then scattered (scatter coat method) over the wet resin and left to set, any excess aggregate is then swept up and can be used again.
This type of resin bonded driveways installation is not Suds compliant as the resin creates a barrier between the original surface and the resin surface, it is also a lot cheaper as there is no additional costs of a sub base.
Driveways or paths installed using this method are by far preferred by the majority of people having a resin style driveway, resin bound installations need a sub base as do block paving and pattern imprinted concrete, this is why the costs are more than resin bonded having said that resin bound driveways or patios have an extraordinary amount of designs and colours which is why when completed by a qualified resin installer, people are more inclined to pay the extra costs, they are also Suds compliant which means no planning permission.

Rubber crumb or rubber compound is the latest in drive and patio material, its main component is recycled tyres, which is basically shredded and mixed with aggregate, this is very environmentally friendly as the rubber compound is re-used and not put into landfill or disposed of other ways. This again can be laid over a hard surface like concrete or tarmac or can be fully Suds compliant and be laid over a hardcore sub-base.
This type of surface is very anti slip and many schools and playgrounds are using this for children’s play areas due to the composite rubber and anti slip properties.
If you like to consider the environment this could be the driveway style for you.
The price and costing is very comparable to other driveways, please fill out the contact form on the right hand side and we will get one of our contractors to call you to arrange a FREE no obligation quotation.
Cobblestones have been around for a very long time, medieval town used them, infact in some of the oldest towns and cities in the UK they still have remnants of this type of paving, so why would you not want it on your driveway?
One of the most used driveway styles simply because gravel is one of the more inexpensive options, it does have its drawbacks but for a quick fix it is ideal.
Drop kerb or dropped kerb are sections of pavement that are adjacent to your house that are lowered to allow you to move a car from or on to the highway in a safe manner.
If you are turning your front garden into a driveway you will need a dropped kerb to allow you to move your car on to the new drive without churning up the footpath and/or your cars suspension.
If you do not need a new driveway but your current drive is covered in weeds and moss and you live in Lincolnshire, do not despair, we can bring your driveway back to life with our pressure washing in Lincoln and driveway cleaning in Lincoln, we also use a low pressure system which incorporates a cocktail of environmentally friendly algae and moss removers.
